Mobility MEC Isaac Sileku said among those arrested is a minibus taxi driver who allegedly struck a pedestrian on the N2 near Nekkies in Knysna and attempted to flee the scene.
Sileku is urging motorists to comply with road rules as holiday travel gets underway.
"It was a busy week for our traffic on our roads with several crashes, pedestrian fatalities and injuries reported. We remain focused on removing high-risk behaviours while also improving safety and professionalism in the minibus taxi industry. We urge all road users to drive and walk responsibly, obey the law, and help us save lives."
