On Saturday, activists, neighbours and volunteers paid tribute to the teen attacked in the forest.

Organiser of the patrol and founder of Parkscape Nicky Schmidt said she arrived on the scene an hour after her body was found.

Since then, she said she has made every effort to keep her memory alive and to prevent such incidents from happening again.

"I think that if history shows us anything, [it] is that if we forget history, we repeat the mistakes of the past. I don't want to see a repeat of that ever."

Hundreds of colourful ribbons are tied to the entrance of Tokai forest in remembrance of Blochliger and other victims of gender-based violence (GBV).
