The Western Cape High Court has sentenced a convicted serial murderer to four life sentences and 102 years for a string of brutal killings in Delft and Du Noon on Tuesday.

Ayanda Dayi was found guilty of four counts of murder, attempted murder, robbery with aggravating circumstances, theft, and multiple firearm and ammunition offences.

Two of his victims were executed at point-blank range while delivering bread at a spaza shop in Symphony Way, Delft.

Two others were hijacked and fatally shot in Du Noon earlier this year.

During sentencing, acting Judge Van Leeve described Dayi as extremely violent, showing no remorse and a complete disregard for human life.

NPA spokesperson Eric Ntabazalila said they welcome the hefty sentence.

"Western Cape Director of Public Prosecutions, Adv Nicolette Bell, applauded the collaborative work of the investigation and prosecution team, which methodically put together evidence that ensured the successful prosecution of the accused on all charges preferred against him."
