Properties to be auctioned include the Good Hope Centre precinct and parcels of land in Mitchells Plain, Atlantis, Parow and Goodwood.
The GOOD Party is set to join protesters in opposing the planned auction.
The party's deputy secretary-general, Suzette Little, said the auction is a slap in the face to more than 400,000 residents who are still on the city’s housing waiting list.
"They trusted the process. Yet instead of prioritising well-located land for social and affordable housing and community development, the DA [Democratic Alliance]-led administration is moving to dispose of public assets without meaningful engagement, and without placing the housing crisis at the centre of its decisions."
