Gang violence escalates in Atlantis following fatal Friday night shooting

Police in Atlantis, near Cape Town, are investigating the murder of a 38-year-old man amid growing concerns over escalating gang-related violence in the area.

The man was shot and killed by unknown assailants on Friday night, the latest in a series of violent incidents that have gripped the suburb.

In recent months, Atlantis has seen a surge in mass shootings, drive-by attacks, and other gang-related crimes, heightening fears among residents.

Police spokesperson Wesley Twigg said, "Atlantis police responded to a complaint of a shooting on Friday night in Bosanger Street, Robinvale, Atlantis, and upon arrival on the scene, they found a 38-year-old male who sustained gunshot wounds to his body. The victim was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel."
