Johannesburg Mayor Dada Morero was confronted by an angry Brixton resident ahead of his media briefing on the city’s ongoing water crisis on Wednesday.
The resident, who insisted on speaking to the mayor before the briefing, expressed frustration over what he described as years of nightly water outages, highlighting what he believes is a long-standing failure to resolve supply issues in his area.
The confrontation took place as Morero was preparing to address the media following a protest in Melville earlier.

Residents there took to the streets, saying they have been without water for weeks. They further accused Johannesburg Water of downplaying the seriousness of the crisis.
Despite the tense exchange, Morero attempted to calm the resident, committing to engage directly with affected communities and address their concerns.
The incident reflects growing frustration among residents across several Johannesburg suburbs, where ongoing water disruptions have sparked protests and mounting criticism of the city’s handling of the crisis.
