On Tuesday, attorneys for the accused revealed to the court that the witnesses meant to testify that day had discussed raising other issues they had with the prison before the court.
After the first witness, Siphelele Quvane, was told his issues could only be addressed separately, he withdrew from the witness list.
The defence attorneys suggested a postponement to a date when the State will be certain its witnesses will testify and not deal with their personal queries.
The attorney also claimed the witnesses are using the matter to advance their agendas.
He said the accused were not being afforded a fair trial.
The matter resumes on Wednesday for the allocation of a new prosecutor, after she was accused of incompetence by a witness.
