Members of Parliament (MPs) now want forensic investigator Paul O’Sullivan’s close confidant, Sarah Jane Trent, to be hauled before the ad hoc committee inquiry after his appearance this week.

Trent is accused of being part of O’Sullivan’s Independent Police Investigative Director (IPID) investigations, and having close links to former IPID head Robert McBride.

She is expected to appear as part of the last batch of witnesses as the committee prepares to conclude its business.

Trent is a forensic investigator and serves as an advisor to O’Sullivan, who is appearing before the ad hoc committee on Tuesday.

Her close relationship with McBride has also come up when ActionSA MP Dereleen James questioned McBride in February.

“You were in contact with Sarah Jane almost every day. The two of you were going for drinks. The two of you had a romantic affair, I put it to you.”

On Monday, Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) MP Leigh Ann Mathys said she’s equally implicated like O’Sullivan and must appear.

“She was charged for impersonating an IPID officer. In addition, she’s been in and out of the IPID offices. She must come here - there’s no reason for her to not appear.”

African National Congress (ANC) fixer Brown Mogotsi - who had asked for extra security – is expected to appear on 24 February.
