The Van Dyk Park community in Boksburg has been left reeling after an attempted hit outside the home of a man implicated in the Madlanga Commission.
In a narrow escape from death, Wiandre Pretorius survived 16 bullets fired at him on Thursday morning by unknown gunmen.
Testimony by the late witness D, whose real name is Marius van der Merwe, linked Pretorius to the torture and murder of a Brakpan man, whose body was dumped at a lake in Germiston.

Resident Stoffel Russouw explains that the neighbourhood was woken up by the loud sound of gunshots.
“US, as a neighbourhood, we try and look out for each other, but this is very close to home where this happened, and I think everybody is afraid.”
This resident says the incident has left them concerned for their safety.
“It’s very shocking for a person to see something like this happening in your area.”
“I’ve been staying here for 33-years and nothing like this has ever happened.”
