The Madlanga Commission of Inquiry has heard allegations of a secret arms deal between the relative of late Deputy President David Mabuza and a feared private security company owner and a Gauteng cop, referred to as 007.

The shocking claims emerged as the inquiry heard testimony from Witness F on Tuesday, who testified partially in-camera.

Explosive evidence was presented by the commission, showing WhatsApp messages between Witness F and some questionable figures.

A WhatsApp conversation between someone listed on Witness F’s contact list as “Comrade DD Mabuza deputy president” and the Gauteng cop gave insight into a massive arms deal.

Witness F claims the person was not Mabuza but his nephew, Siphiwe Mabuza, who approached him over an arms deal involving 750 12-gauge shotguns.

Witness F also confirmed close links to a man, whom KwaZulu-Natal Hawks boss Lesetja Senona feared to name before the commission, Bedfordview private security boss Steven Motsumi.

In some instances, Witness F was referred to as 007, something evidence leader Matthew Chaskalson questioned him on.

“Do you know what 007 signifies in the James Bond movies?”

Witness F responded, “James Bond? I don’t know him - I can’t comment on that.”

“Well James Bond was 007 but the 00 agents were the agents who had a licence to kill,” said Chaskalson.

Witness F will continue with his testimony on Wednesday morning.
