A member of Gauteng Organised Crime has been accused of sharing confidential police information with civilians.
One such civilian is criminally accused tenderprenuer, Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala.
On Tuesday, Witness F began testifying before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry.
His testimony has been heard partially in-camera, with Witness F testifying from an undisclosed location.
WhatsApp messages between Witness F and several notable, yet questionable characters, were scrutinised at the Madlanga Commission.
The member of Gauteng Organised Crime confirmed that he facilitated communication between Matlala and his then boss, the suspended deputy national police commissioner, Shadrack Sibiya.
The communication centred around the delivery of 290 impala bucks to Sibiya’s property - which were allegedly purchased as a gift by Matlala.
Evidence was also presented showing Witness F sharing dockets and confidential police intel with the likes of Matlala as well as feared Bedfordview private security company owner, Steven Motsumi.
Madlanga co-commissioner, advocate Sesi Baloyi had this to say: “Many South Africans will not sleep easy knowing that police officers share dockets with civilians in matters that are under investigation. It is a matter of concern.”
The docket shared with Motsumi is related to a cash-in-transit investigation that Witness F was working on for over three years.
