Firefighters face hectic month battling blazes across Western Cape

Firefighters across the Western Cape have had their hands full in recent weeks, battling multiple blazes amid extremely hot and windy conditions.

Fires continue to rage in the Overberg region.

The Overberg District Municipality's fire chief, Reinard Geldenhuys, said fire crews have experienced a hectic month.

Meanwhile, in the Cape Winelands District Municipality, teams managed to fully contain a blaze that broke out in the mountains above De Doorns in the Hex River Valley, on Monday.

They remained on scene during the course of Monday evening, to monitor the area and manage any possible flare-ups.
