A criminal complaint has been opened against basic education officials and a parent allegedly involved in a matric exam paper leak detected in Pretoria.
Basic Education Minister Siviwe Gwarube said an investigation found anomalies during the marking process.
Gwarube and the department outlined the immediate interventions and measures to safeguard the integrity and credibility of the 2025 National Senior Certificate examinations at a press briefing in parliament on Thursday.
The department discovered that the leak involved 26 matriculants from seven schools.
Candidates gave similar answers when responding to a “novel question” on the English Paper 2 exam.
