The Western Cape Education Department has confirmed that a teenage girl who was shot in Ravensmead on Friday afternoon is a high school learner.
The shooting incident took place on Friday in De la Rey Road opposite Ravensmead Secondary School.
The 18-year-old was shot in her upper thigh and transported to a medical facility for treatment.

This shooting comes a day after a 12-year-old was wounded in a shooting incident in Mitchell’s Plain.
Spokesperson for the provincial education department, Bronagh Hammond said: "The incident is not school-related and happened approx 2/3km from school in the afternoon. She is receiving medical attention and the relevant psychosocial support services have been alerted to provide assistance.
