The Western Cape Department of Mobility is urging motorists to comply with height restrictions on Bain’s Kloof Pass.
The department said over the past two months, seven heavy motor vehicles were stuck on the pass, causing traffic disruptions.
The removal of heavy vehicles on the pass can often take up to five hours to clear.
Chief director of traffic management Maxine Bezuidenhout said vehicles exceeding 3.68 metres should use the R44 Wellington/Hermon Road, or Huguenot Tunnel
“Ignoring these rules not only endangers your own safety but also the safety of other road users. It leads to unnecessary delays, costly recoveries, and disruptions to traffic. Our traffic law enforcement teams will continue monitoring the route and will take the necessary steps to ensure compliance.”
