Mogotsi to face defeating ends of justice charge if assassination attempt staged: Police

Police said if it turns out that North West businessman Brown Mogotsi staged his attempted assassination he will face a charge of defeating the ends of justice.

Mogotsi allegedly survived a hit on Monday night, in Vosloorus, on the East Rand, when unknown gunmen travelling in a white bakkie shot at a vehicle he was travelling in.

Mogotsi’s name has been mentioned at the Madlanga Commission and Parliament’s ad hoc committee investigating alleged police corruption, with witnesses pointing to his alleged proximity to senior police officials.

Police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe said they’ve repeatedly called on him to open a case of attempted murder at the Ekurhuleni Police Station after Monday night’s attack.

“We are still waiting for Mr Brown Mojo. It is not yet clear where he was coming from and where he was going,so those are some of the details that we would like to collect and gather from him. So, we are able to take down a formal statement.”
