A murder-accused Eldorado Park police officer told the Johannesburg High Court that he intends applying for bail for a second time after it was revoked.

Mandla Buthelezi appeared alongside his co-accused, Llewellyn Mayers, for pre-trial on Tuesday.

He faces a string of charges relating to the murder of his then-girlfriend, Chesnay Keppler.

Mayers faces a charge of attempted murder and defeating the ends of justice for intimidating witnesses on the case.

When Eldorado Park station police officer Mandla Buthelezi was arrested, he was released on R20,000 bail.

In September this year, during his court appearance, he was re-arrested and his bail revoked after police investigations revealed he had intimidated witnesses.

His accomplice, Llewellyn Mayers, was charged with the attempted murder of witnesses and defeating the ends of justice.

In court on Tuesday, Buthelezi’s attorney, Sphamandla Madinane, said they intend to apply for bail again.

"Accused number one has instructed me that to bring a new bill application and I discussed this with my learned colleague and we were looking at the 2nd of December."

Buthelezi faces charges of murder, attempted murder, attempted kidnapping, assault and defeating the ends of justice.
