Third inmate involved in stabbing attack at Pollsmoor Prison dies

A third inmate involved in an attack at Pollsmoor Prison has died.
 
Violence erupted at the facility on Wednesday morning and two prisoners were killed. 

The Police and Prisons Civil Rights Union (POPCRU) told EWN that two correctional officials were wounded. 

The injured victims were taken to hospital for medical treatment.

The Department of Correctional Services confirmed that a third offender died on Friday morning. 
 
The man had been in hospital since the incident on Wednesday morning.
 
The stabbing attack was directed at correctional officials, prompting the use of force in an attempt to restore order.
 
The department is now conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attack and says all necessary measures are being taken to ensure the safety and stability of the correctional environment at Pollsmoor Prison.
