Grassy Park residents in Cape Town are still reeling from a shooting that claimed one life in the area on Sunday.

A 32-year-old male died at the scene, while four others were rushed to a nearby hospital.

The motive for the attack remains unclear.

Chairperson of the Grassy Park CPF, Nicole Jacobus: "We are aware of, in the past few months, there have been shootings in the area. We, as the CPF, we are monitoring the situation. We are monitoring all the shootings that are taking place. We are working closely with our South African police force."

Jacobus has called on residents to work with local forums to help prevent crime.

"I want to urge the community to report suspicious activities. We need to start working together with our uniformed staff. The only way we can combat crime and make our areas safer is if we start standing behind our uniformed staff. We, as a community, need to work together."
