With the tax filing deadline just two days away, some South African Revenue Services (SARS) branches are open on Saturday to help taxpayers submit their income tax returns.
The revenue service is urging the public to make use of the assistance available ahead of Monday’s cut-off.
SARS spokesperson Siphithi Sibeko said individuals who miss the deadline could face penalties.
He added that tax season, which opened in July, is now drawing to a close.
"Monday, the 20th of October, is the final day of submission of the outstanding returns for those that did not receive the auto assessment. We are cautioning South African taxpayers to meet all their legal obligations by the deadline of the 20th."
