A candidate vying for a spot on the bench in the Constitutional Court has fielded tough questions on transformation within the judiciary.
Interviews are being held before the Judicial Service Commission to fill vacancies in the superior courts.
Six judges and legal practitioners will be interviewed to fill two vacancies in the Apex Court.
Supreme Court judge Glenn Goosen has taken tough questions from the Judicial Service Commission on the judgments that he has penned- and the lengths of time that he has taken to deliver judgments.
He has also had to answer the frequently asked question about what he has done to support the course of transformation within the legal fraternity.
"I was very directly involved in the pupilage program both at the local bar and the Eastern Cape, ultimately was involved in directing the national pupilage programme for the bar."
The chair, Chief Justice Mandisa Maya, backed Judge Goosen's answer by reading from his profile.
"Campaigning against compulsory military conscription during apartheid, representing activists who were prosecuted for their opposition to the Apartheid regime."
Judge Goosen has spoken about his commitment to transformation and how he was conscientised during the apartheid regime.
