Messages between controversial figure, Brown Mogotsi, and KZN police commissioner, Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi have been included as part of evidence submitted to the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry.
Last week Mkhwanazi testified before the commission, sitting at the Brigitte Mabandla Justice College in Pretoria.
Mkhwanazi delivered evidence by way of a prepared statement, referencing hundreds of pages of annexures.
His annexure bundle amounts to 604 pages - comprised of presentations, letters, affidavits, meetings of minutes and email threads.
Screenshots of messages between Mkhwanazi and Mogotsi - accused of meddling in high-profile police investigations, with alleged has links to underworld figure and tenderpreneur, Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala as well as police minister Senzo Mchunu - form part of Mkhwanazi’s dossier.
However, evidence related to what was found on Matlala’s phone - confiscated by police during a raid at his home in December - is not included in the dossier.
Mkhwanazi alleged that evidence found on Matlala’s phone linked him to Mogotsi, Mchunu and suspended deputy national police commissioner for crime detection, Shadrack Sibiya.
