Alrapark Primary’s new school on track for completion says school governing body

The school governing body at Alrapark Primary in Nigel, Johannesburg, has said construction of the new school remains on track.
Earlier this month, Gauteng’s Education Department announced plans to replace the school’s ageing infrastructure, saying it would be more cost-effective to build a new facility than to repair the extensive damage.

The school governing body said construction of the new school is progressing well, with paving already completed.
It said ongoing work includes the installation of verandas, electrification, construction of a kitchen and eating area, as well as upgrades to the mobile classrooms.
The Gauteng Education Department has estimated the cost of the project to be between R80 and R120 million.
Education MEC Matome Chiloane has committed to completing the new school within a year.
