Parliament's Ad Hoc Committee investigating allegations made by KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi is inviting individuals and interested organisations to make written submissions on matters relevant to its hearings.
The committee says only submissions that relate to the scope of the inquiry will be considered by the committee and these can be written submissions, including supporting documentation.
The committee made the call on Friday as it prepares for its own hearings, which will start after the conclusion of Mkhwanazi's testimony at the Madlanga Commission, which is happening concurrently.
The committee's call for public input comes as the judicial commission of inquiry enters its third day of hearings with testimony from Mkhwanazi.

The committee said the public submissions must be on matters which are “pertinent to the scope of the enquiry”, as detailed in the terms of reference.
The committee said it's conducting the enquiry “to assess the veracity, extent, and implications” of Mkhwanazi's wide-ranging and far-reaching allegations made on 6 July during a media briefing on the work of the Political Killings Task Team.

Parliament said section 59(1)(a) of the Constitution obliges the committee to facilitate public involvement in its processes and anyone interested must be offered a reasonable opportunity to be informed of the work of the committee and to have a say.
The submissions must reach the committee by no later than 17 17 October.
