The G20 Summit is currently under the leadership of South Africa. The country assumed the Presidency of the G20 from 1 December 2024 to 30 November 2025, where it has been steering the agenda before hosting the gathering.

10 October 2024 South Africa hosts G20 Presidency

South Africa prepares to assume the G20 Presidency, making it the first African country to head the bloc of global powerhouses.

19 November 2024 South Africa officially takes over G20 presidency

The G20 presidency has officially been handed to South Africa in a ceremony in Rio de Janeiro.

3 December 2024 Ramaphosa officially launches SA's presidency of G20

President Cyril Ramaphosa officially launched South Africa's presidency of the G20 at Parliament.Ramaphosa said that inclusivity would be a key feature of South Africa's leadership and government would ensure dialogue with a broad spectrum of civil society groups as a bridge between citizens and leaders.

26 February 2025 Launch of Women20 South Africa  

The G20 engagement group launches its Women20 South Africa (W20 SA) group at the National Research Foundation Auditorium in Pretoria later on Wednesday. The group was created in an effort to promote gender equality and women’s economic empowerment across 20 countries.
