JOHANNESBURG - Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development Mmamoloko Kubayi is set to launch National Wills Week at the Johannesburg master's offices on Monday.
The initiative, which runs from 15 to 19 September, aims to highlight the importance of drafting a will to secure the future of loved ones.
During this week, members of the public can have their wills drafted free of charge by participating legal practitioners across the country.
Spokesperson Terrence Manase said the launch underscores government's commitment to helping citizens protect their assets and ensure a smooth transfer of inheritance.
"National Wills Week is about ensuring that every South African, regardless of their background, has the opportunity to secure their legacy and protect their loved ones.
"By drafting a will, families are spared unnecessary hardship and disputes. The minister is calling on all citizens to take advantage of this free service and make their wishes known for the future."
