JOHANNESBURG - President Cyril Ramaphosa has slammed the poor running of some North West municipalities, describing it as "unacceptable".
The president said that at least ten municipalities in the province were either under administration or facing serious financial trouble.
Ramaphosa, along with a few Cabinet ministers, were in Rustenburg on Friday to engage the North West government and some of the troubled municipalities.
Speaking on the sidelines of Friday’s event, Ramaphosa singled out the Ditsobotla Municipality, which has once again been placed under administration due to poor governance.
"We have had in Ditsobotla, a process where you had two mayors, two municipal managers, two speakers and that is just completely unacceptable. The inability of our leaders at the local level to straighten out operations of local government is actually resulting in bad services being delivered to our people and our people deserve much more than what we are giving them through the dysfunctionality at local level government level."
