One person killed, 2 others seriously injured in EC truck collision

JOHANNESBURG - One person has been killed and two others seriously injured in a head-on collision between two trucks on the R72 in the Eastern Cape.
The accident happened in the early hours of Friday morning between Alexandria and Kenton-on-Sea as a bakery truck was delivering bread to local stores.
The driver of the bakery truck died at the scene, while his co-driver and the driver of the other truck were rushed to Livingstone Hospital in Gqeberha.
EC Transport Department spokesperson, Unathi Binqose, said police had opened a case of culpable homicide.
"The MEC for Transport in the Eastern Cape, Xolile Nqatha, is extending his sincere word of condolences to the family of the person who passed away in this accident, while wishing those in hospital a speedy and full recovery."
