TSHWANE - The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Tshwane has questioned why the municipality is taking so long to bar controversial entrepreneur Edwin Sodi from doing business with the metro.
The city has sent a request to the National Treasury to have Sodi’s company, Blackhead Consulting, blacklisted from securing municipal tenders. This follows the company’s failure to complete refurbishments at the Rooiwal Wastewater Treatment Plant.
DA Tshwane caucus leader Cilliers Brink said Sodi should have been blacklisted by now.
“A year and a half after Tshwane first commenced the blacklisting process, it simply doesn’t make sense that a blacklisting application hasn’t been lodged yet with National Treasury. We fear that the delay is prejudicing the application. It also doesn’t make sense why the process is being further delayed by having the city’s internal audit department vet the application,” Brink said.
The City of Tshwane is, however, awaiting National Treasury’s response to its application to have Sodi blacklisted.
