JOHANNESBURG - The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) is urging grant beneficiaries not to panic, saying payments will continue as normal.
This comes after reports alleged that SASSA would not renew its service agreement with Postbank, sparking fears about potential disruptions.
In a statement, Postbank has dismissed the claims and confirmed that talks with SASSA are ongoing.
SASSA Spokesperson Andile Tshona said that it’s business as usual, adding that no eligible beneficiary will be affected - even if there is a change in service providers.
"SASSA wishes to reiterate its commitment to a seamless and efficient distribution of social grants to all its beneficiaries in line with its mandate. To achieve this mandate, SASSA is working with all relevant stakeholders to ensure that social grants are paid to the right person at the right time."
