Man arrested in connection to murder of woman at WC shopping centre expected in court

CAPE TOWN - A man arrested in connection with the murder of a woman at a shopping centre is expected to appear in the Hermanus Magistrate's Court on Monday.

The 59-year-old woman was shot and killed by three men at the Whale Coast Mall last Thursday.

Police believe the attack is linked to ongoing taxi violence.

The 37-year-old suspect was charged on Saturday.

Police spokesperson Novela Potelwa said detectives are still searching for the remaining suspects.

“The suspect was arrested as part of the SAPS [South African Police Service] serious violent crime investigation. The taxi violence unit detectives are still hard at work in search of more suspects.”
