PRETORIA -The MK Party has threatened to embark on what it calls “rolling nationwide protests” should the president fail to reverse the appointment of Firoz Cachalia as acting police minister.
Cachalia will take up the role in August following the president's decision for Police Minister Senzo Mchunu to take leave of absence.

Earlier in July, KZN Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi made shocking allegations, accusing Mchunu of meddling with police investigations.
Despite the president clarifying that Cachalia’s appointment as acting police minister was in line with section 91(3)(c) of the constitution, MK Party spokesperson Nhlamulo Ndlela insisted that the law was contravened.
"We are going to be having rolling nationwide marches, and that is allowed and they’re going to be peaceful, as per section 17 of the constitution. So we are calling on all South Africans to stand up and rise against this GNU that fraternises with criminality."
