JOHANNESBURG - The GOOD Party is urging communities to work closely with the police to combat crime in townships.
This follows a deadly mass shooting at a tavern in Olievenhoutbosch, Centurion, in the early hours of Saturday morning.
According to reports, a group of armed men stormed the tavern and opened fire on patrons, killing five people and leaving several others injured.

Gauteng police have launched a manhunt for at least ten suspects, and the tavern’s owner has been taken in for questioning.
The secretary general of the party, Brett Herron, said, "We have a crime, gangsterism and violence crisis that is terrorising communities. We cannot ignore the pattern that is emerging that these mass shootings are most prevalent in apartheid era townships where people are forced to live in ghetto like conditions with poverty, overcrowding and underinvestment characteristics".
