MPs warn SA will go up in flames if anything happens to Mkhwanazi

CAPE TOWN - Members of Parliament (MPs) have warned that South Africa will go up in flames if anything happens to KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.
Members of the justice and police committees also want whistleblowers to be protected when they give evidence before a parliamentary ad hoc committee that will investigate Mkhwanazi’s claims of corruption in the criminal justice system.
On Wednesday, parties in the joint committee recommended that Parliament establish an ad hoc committee to probe allegations of corruption and interference made by Mkhwanazi at a press conference two weeks ago.
Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) MP Eugene Mthethwa said they support the ad hoc committee but warned that public frustrations are like a ticking time bomb.
“The mere fact that people are out on the streets before anything happens is a ticking time bomb. Should anything happen to Mkhwanazi, I want to second the very notion and the sentiment that this country will see fire. Madiba is no longer here to quench the fire.”
