Man sentenced to 25 years in prison for murdering his girlfriend

JOHANNESBURG - A man has been sentenced to 25 years imprisonment by the Musina Regional Court for murdering his girlfriend.
In April last year, Humbulani Nethengwe had an argument with his partner, Khethani Mudau, in their home, which escalated, and he attacked her with an axe in front of her two children.
The 40-year-old man then fled but handed himself over to police a few days later.
He was also charged with being unfit to possess a firearm.
In his trial, prosecutors argued that the crime was heinous.
Limpopo National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Mashudu Malabi-Dzhanhi.
"The accused assaulted her and brutally killed her with an axe. He pleaded guilty to the charge. The NPA welcomes the charge."
