JOHANNESBURG - The SAPS anti-corruption unit in the Free State is appealing to the public for assistance in locating a 58-year-old man wanted in connection with a job scam targeting a local mine.
Emmanuel Matsoso is alleged to have promised a father he could secure mining jobs for his three children for a fee of R5,000 per child.
The victim claims he paid a total of R15,000 for all three of his children in 2021, after which Matsoso disappeared.
Shortly thereafter, a case of fraud was opened at the Odendaalsrus Police Station, but it was withdrawn last year (2024).
However, Free State Police spokesperson Mahlomola Kareli says that this year, the Odendaalsrus Magistrate's Court issued a warrant of arrest for Matsoso, who has reportedly been in hiding since.
"Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Emmanuel Tseliso Matsoso is urged to contact the investigating officers."
