JOHANNESBURG - A busy section of the N4 highway in eastern Tshwane will be closed for most of Sunday as work crews carry out critical electrical infrastructure upgrades.
The 10-hour closure - from 8AM to 6PM - affects the stretch between the Simon Vermooten and Solomon Mahlangu interchanges and will allow for the safe installation of high-voltage conductors.
This forms part of the City of Tshwane's Waltloo-Njala transmission line project, aimed at strengthening electricity supply to the city’s eastern grid.
City spokesperson Lindela Mashigo says the work is essential to avoid future power instability.
"The closure is essential to facilitate the safe stringing of high-voltage conductors as part of the 300MVA Waltloo–Njala transmission line project. This strategic infrastructure upgrade is crucial for strengthening and stabilising electricity supply to the eastern grid of Tshwane, benefiting both residential and industrial zones."
