'Moment of great pride' to have SARB's Kganyago as Stellenbosch University chancellor, says council chair

CAPE TOWN - The Stellenbosch University's council says it's a moment of great pride to have SA Reserve Bank Governor Lesetja Kganyago elected as the institution's new chancellor.
Kganyago, who becomes the institution’s 16th chancellor, replaces Justice Edwin Cameron, whose term ended in December last year.
An electoral college, consisting of all members of the council and the executive committee of Stellenbosch University's senate, met to elect Kganyago as the new chancellor.
University council chair, Nicky Newton-King, welcomed Kganyago as the newly elected chancellor.
"This is a moment of great pride for the Stellenbosch University community. Governor Kganyago’s exemplary leadership, vast experience, and unwavering commitment to independence and excellence are inspiring matters of public record. I very much look forward to welcoming the governor to the university community."
