There are fears that the disbandment of the task team may lead to an increase in political violence in the province again.

DURBAN - The African National Congress (ANC) in KwaZulu-Natal said while it supported the disbandment of the police task team into political killings, it does want police to prevent the violence.
This as local government elections are set for next year.
There are fears that the disbandment of the task team may lead to an increase in political violence in the province again.
ANC provincial secretary, Bheki Mtolo, briefed the media earlier on Wednesday.
"Whatever happens in the police, they must ensure that mechanisms are put in place that there’s no political killings in KwaZulu-Natal - that is all we can pray and vouch for."
However, Mtolo said he was confident in the ability of the police in the province.
"There's no reason to doubt their capabilities of the work that they've done at least in the last two years. They've demonstrated under the Commissioner Mkhwanazi that they have capacity to fight crime vigorously and without fear or favour."
