JOHANNESBURG - The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has hailed the latest ceasefire in Gaza as a victory.

The party, which has fervently stood in solidarity with the nation, said the deal served as critical reprieve for the Palestinian people.

On Wednesday, Israel and Hamas reached a ceasefire agreement brokered by Qatar, Egypt and the United States.

However, the red berets have reiterated their calls for the expulsion of the Israeli embassy in South Africa and for the country to severe all ties with the Middle Eastern nation.

EFF deputy president, Godrich Gardee: "While these steps offer a glimpse of hope, they do not erase the catastrophic destruction inflicted upon Gaza and the genocidal intent behind Israel's actions. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Israeli occupation forces are war criminals. Crimes they have committed, mass killings, forced displacement, and systematic destruction of civilian infrastructure amount to genocide.
