Manenberg CPF welcomes arrest of 3 suspects linked to 5-year-old's murder

Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis said that his administration would monitor court proceedings for the three main suspects who are due to appear in court on Friday.

"The city is today in mourning together with the Abrahams family. We feel the extreme pain as parents ourselves, and we stand as a family in demanding justice for this young, beautiful little boy's life lost in such horrific circumstances."

Meanwhile, the Manenberg Community Policing Forum believes that to effectively combat gang violence, the suburb doesn't need more police resources, but for residents' attitudes to change.

The CPF said that primary school children were often recruited to be gangsters.

The forum's chairperson, Vernon Visagie, said that he was concerned that Manenberg's violent crime knows no bounds.

"You don't know what to expect because this is not normal. This is seriously not normal if a five-year-old has lost his life like this, then what do you expect? So, the community of Manenberg is standing up and they are saying we can not go on like this, we cannot continue to live like this because this is not normal."
