Bryant said significant investments in disaster preparedness, firefighting capacity and improving water resilience are part of the province's strategy to adapt to climate change.
"The Democratic Alliance in the Western Cape says it’s closely monitoring the current heatwave and welcomes the Western Cape government's readiness to respond to risks linked to extreme heat."
Bryant said disaster management teams, municipalities and emergency services remain on high alert, with firefighting agencies ready to respond rapidly where needed.
"Residents are urged to avoid open flames, use water sparingly and remain in cool or shaded areas where possible."
Bryant said collective caution will help safeguard both people and the environment during this period of extreme temperatures.
