Lester Kiewit speaks to Gasina Waggie-Isaacs, the owner (for 27 years!) of Curry Café at Newlands Stadium.

Listen below.

Waggie-Isaacs says after 27 years of trading at Newlands Cricket Ground, her business closed after revamping work at the stadium.

"My stint came to an abrupt end," Waggie-Isaacs tells Kiewit.

"We all know there's lots of revamping and building going on at the stadium and, unfortunately, my space was a victim to that.

"I was sincerely hoping that I would be relocated to another space, but that didn't happen, so it's sad for me too," Waggie-Isaacs explains.

"... I think I should've been offered another location because 27 years is a long time... for me, it was tradition and a lifetime... meeting people, meeting commentators, meeting players, meeting clients..."

Waggie-Isaacs is inundated by people enquiring about where her curry stall is, which she says saddens her.

"So many people have phoned me saying, 'Where are you? You've been here all the time!' People would tell me that they come to this test because they need to have some curry and I don't think there's a curry vendor at the stadium right now."

"Things change and contracts can't run to infinity. But there are certain things we look forward to and there are traditions we look forward to and it was incredibly disappointing that I didn't see you there," says Kiewit.

Waggie-Isaacs says she still runs a cooking company, offering and delivering lunches to companies and parties of eight people or more. So, business-wise, she'll keep on running.
