CAPE TOWN - The Public Servants Association (PSA) said there was a looming disaster in the Western Cape public education sector.
It said that provincial finance MEC, Deidre Baartman, had failed to address the planned teacher job cuts in the Western Cape in her medium-term budget policy statement.
She tabled her maiden mini-budget this week.

The PSA’s assistant general manager, Koos Kruger, said the public education sector would be losing experienced teachers who were teaching critical subjects.
"We believe that to say that teachers need to find ways to do the same job with less resources by being more innovative and efficient is a bridge too far. These teachers already work under a strain, this will be exacerbated by the exits of 2,407 more teachers."
