Alleged child murderer Simiao to spend week in jail before he can formally apply for bail

JOHANNESBURG - Alleged child murderer and rapist Pethe Sara Simiao will spend a week behind bars before he can formally apply for bail.
Simiao was arrested on Wednesday for the kidnapping, sexual assault, and murder of six-year-old Amantle Samane after her body was discovered in his Orlando home.

The accused made his first court appearance on Friday in the Protea Magistrates Court.
During proceedings, Simiao attempted to bar the media from broadcasting his matter, but the request was denied by Magistrate Tshepiso Maepa.
“Your matter is adjourned to the first of November back to court number 10 for your formal bail application. Bail remains opposed by the state. You will be in custody without any bail.”
