CAPE TOWN - Defence attorney Bashier Sibda on Monday presented alleged underworld gang boss Nafiz Modack's version of events related to three botched attacks on slain top cop, Charl Kinnear, in November 2019.
It's the State's case that Modack hired co-accused, Yannick Adonis and Amaal Jantjies, to plot the attacks on Kinnear in 2019, before his eventual murder in 2020.

Modack insists he formed a relationship with Adonis after they ended up in the same section at Pollsmoor Prison in 2017.
Modack said he sought protection from Adonis after learning that Jerome "Donkie" Booysen had allegedly put a hit out on him.
Modack said his relationship with Jantjies was formed on the basis that she would provide him with legal services to get his wife out of prison.
At the time, his wife had been jailed on a firearms charge, and Adonis was working as a clerk for a legal firm with alleged links to the AGU.
The trial is set to proceed on Tuesday.
