ANC's Mbalula on Mboweni’s passing: ‘He was a good person to be around’
Mboweni has been described as a visionary leader, and a champion of integrity and good governance.
JOHANNESBURG - The African National Congress (ANC) says former Finance Minister Tito Mboweni's death is a massive blow to the party.
Mboweni died on Saturday after suffering a short illness.
He's been described as a visionary leader, and a champion of integrity and good governance.
Family and friends are expected to gather at his home in Killarney on Tuesday evening to pay their respects.

Tuesday is the second day of prayers before the family makes its way to Limpopo for the final preparations.
Among the mourners who have made their way is ANC veteran Matthews Phosa.
"We are sad.. we are hurt, especially because Tito was still so young," said Phosa.
The ANC's Secretary General - Fikile Mbalula - also paid tribute to Mboweni.
"He was a good person to be around. Comrade Tito was very generous," he said.
While he was as tough as a nail when it came to policy decisions, family and friends said they would also remember him as a funny and spirited man.
