CAPE TOWN - Veteran actor Timmy Kwebulana's family said they will remember him as a person with a big, humorous personality.

Kwebulana passed away on Thursday after a short illness.

The 83-year-old is the third South African veteran actor to die in  a past week.

The Langa township native starred in several popular TV productions over the years.

The man, affectionately known as Ngqungqumbana, had a sterling career spanning almost six decades as an actor, director, comedian, and musician.

During a community leaders' visit to the Kwebulana home on Sunday, family spokesperson Clayton Mdingi described his brother-in-law as a character even at home.

"Whenever you ask him something, there would be a joke involved in his answer. So, we will remember him in that he was a jolly fellow."

Mdingi said Kwebulana was a beloved figure.

“Even people who are coming here, they all say they're going to miss him. So, the same applies to us as a family."

Kwebulana will be laid to rest in Kwa-Langa on Saturday.
