PRETORIA - The defence in the Senzo Meyiwa trial has promised to call their ballistic expert who will challenge the version by the state on the gun used to murder the football star.
Ballistics expert Chris Mangena spent the week on the witness stand taking tough questions from the defence.
According to Mangena, the gun found at the home of one of the accused can be positively linked with the bullet found on the scene of Meyiwa's murder.
But the defence has disputed this and said Mangena misapplied ballistic concepts.

A debate broke out in the Pretoria High Court on Thursday over whether the markings on the exhibit bullet found on the scene of Meyiwa's murder positively match with the markings on the test bullets that Mangena fired from Mthobisi Mncube's gun.
During his cross-examination, the lawyer for the fourth accused, advocate Zithulele Nxumalo and the defence's ballistics expert said they could not see the matches marked by Mangena.
Nxumalo said the defence would call its client to the stand to testify that the marks identified by Mangena do not meet the threshold for a match.
The court also ruled that Mangena’s colleagues who reviewed his findings and agreed, be called to testify.
