Electricity Dept working tirelessly to find load reduction solution, says Ramokgopa

JOHANNESBURG - Minister of Energy and Electricity Kgosientsho Ramokgopa said his department was working tirelessly to find a solution to load reduction.
Ramokgopa made the comments at a media briefing on Monday morning as part of his regular energy updates.

Load reduction is being implemented in areas where there is significant overloading due to illegal connections or other non-compliant behaviours.
Ramokgopa said the largest driving force for this form of power cuts remained the debt owed to Eskom by municipalities.
He said local government was even failing to provide free electricity to qualifying households.
"We also know that there are about 10 million households that qualify but only 2 million are receiving it due to challenges on municipal level."
